Banana Bread in Loaf Pan |
The Best Banana Bread
This is an old recipe which must be over 40 years old. The banana bread recipe is from my mother’s old recipe box. It was written on a small faded index card with a red line on top followed with blue lines underneath. It’s a tasty and classic banana bread recipe from mom, and I highly recommend you try it.
Makes one loaf
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2/3 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
3 ripe bananas
1/2 cup canola oil
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tablespoon buttermilk
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar.
In another bowl, mash the bananas, then add the oil, egg and buttermilk. Mix together until combined. Add the wet mixture to the flour mixture and mix until just combined.
Pour into the loaf pan and bake for 50 minutes or until tester comes out clean.
